Rhythm in Twentieth-Century British Poetry
was an international conference held in Lyon in 2009 that brought together specialists in metre, in poetic rhythm, and in poetry for two days of panel discussions and formal and informal dialogue.  The keynote address was by Derek Attridge.

Selected conference proceedings were published in a special issue of the journal Etudes britanniques contemporaines (no. 39, December 2010).  This can be obtained from the publisher, Presses universitaires de la Méditerranée.  The issue will also be made available in due course via the online journals database revues.org

The conference was organised on behalf of the Société d'études anglaises contemporaines, with support from the Ecole Normale Supérieure Lettres et Sciences Humaines (now part of the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon), and from two of its associated research groups: LIRE (Littérature, idéologie, représentations) and the Centre d'études poétiques.
